What is Hugloft?
Hugloft is a licensed Family Child Care Home, located in San Mateo, lovingly dedicated to the care of children from 4 months to 4 years old. Here, each little one finds a safe, nurturing and loving place, designed to accompany and guide them through their early stages of development.
We offer a warm and welcoming care space, as comforting as a tender bear hug. We create an environment where children feel valued, listened to and respected, with routines that provide them with security and activities that stimulate their creativity, emotional development and social skills.
Who is Laura?
I am Laura Ramos, agro-industrial engineer and founder of Hugloft. Inspired by my mother, who was an early childhood education teacher, I discovered my passion for caring for, teaching and accompanying children in their first years of life.
Since I began this journey, I have created an environment where each child receives individual attention, love, structure and many opportunities to learn through play. I love to design creative activities, read stories, sing songs, make crafts and be a part of every important step, accompanying them from the first words to lovingly preparing them for their first day of preschool.
My personal values, responsibility, commitment, dedication and sense of belonging are reflected every day in my work. What I enjoy most is seeing how children feel safe, happy and connected, and how families build a true community within Hugloft.
Here we don’t just care for children, we form bonds that accompany their growth.

At San Mateo, the brand was born out of the genuine love of its founders, who were inspired by the figure of the founder’s mother, a teacher passionate about the education, care and well-being of children. Over the years, the brand has grown and evolved, recognizing the importance of creating an identity that authentically reflects its current mission and vision.

How was Hugloft born?
Hugloft was born from a personal inspiration that came from my mother, an early childhood teacher who dedicated her life to guiding, accompanying and teaching children. Her vocation for childhood inspired me to follow in her footsteps and I decided to create a place where every child feels loved, safe and stimulated to learn every day. This is how Hugloft was born, here every day is a new smile, a big hug and a world to discover.
